I appreciate the ethical move taken by BJP / Modi Government to ban Beef eating in India. I know it is not acceptable by Muslims or Christians of India and it is quite natural because it is a question mark in their food habits. But in the mean time it is religious sentiment of Hindu People of India. Hindus consider cow as a sacred animal and we (Hindus) have the same feeling for a cow as we have for our mother.
If it is not acceptable in all over India, atleast cow slaughtering can be stopped in Hindu majority area so it can maintain a religious harmony among different communities.
Some politicians and religious people from Muslim community or Christian community have shown the exception like many livelihood of many butchers will be affected. From my practical experience, the livelihood of butchers from Muslim or Christian community are not dependable on only cow slaughtering or sometimes not at all in any part of Hindu populated part of India. They have other options as before like goat, chicken or other animal which are not a part of religious sentiment of any community. Also the people who are doing this job from generation wise can look out to different options to earn their livelihood which will be an opportunity for them to transform to other jobs and education. We have always seen in the business world that whenever one product gets disappeared from market than another product gets launched or a different existing product gets promoted. There are number of examples, I do not want to quote in this blog
Yes there may be some economical affect due to downfall of beef export due to this action but we can give this effort to other activities which may help India to overcome this economical loss.
It will not only be the religious sentiment of Hindus but it will be symbol of brotherhood of Muslims and Christians towards Hindus. It will be respect of secularism because this brotherhood.
Same activity should be done for pork consumption in Muslim populated area.
Unity in Diversity!
